Sonlight Christian Center – Article of Faith
We believe GOD is a spirit (John 4:24) the eternal One, the Creator of all things and all mankind thus making Him their Father (through creation).
We believe he is the first and the last and beside him there is no God (Isaiah 43:10)
We believe Jesus is the Son of God according to the flesh (Roman 1:3) and the very God Himself according to the spirit (Matt. 1:23). Jesus is the Christ (Matt. 16:16) The Creator of all things (Col. 1:16-17) God with us (Matt: 1:23) God manifested in the flesh (1 Tim. 3:16) He which was, which is and which is to come, the Almighty (Rev. 1:8, Isaac. 9:6)
We believe there was no God formed before Him, neither shall there be after Him (Isaac 43:10)
We believe Jesus Himself testified to being God when he said “He that hath see me, hath seen the Father” (John 14:7-11) I and my Father are one (John 10:30)
We believe the Holy Ghost is the manifestation of the spirit of God (the creator) and of the Resurrected Christ coming to dwell in the heart and lives of all men who will be obedient to the gospel (John 14:14-26, Romans 8:11)
We believe sin is the transgression of the law commandment of God (John 3:4)
Salvation
We believe that salvation is deliverance from all sin and unrighteous through the blood of Christ (Roman 6:23)
We believe that before one can come to God he/she must first believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him (Hebrew 11:6, John 3:16, Acts 16:29-34, Isaiah 55:6-8, Deuteronomy 4:29-31). One must also acknowledge, confess and forsake his/her sins (Ps. 51:3, Rm. 3:23, Prov. 28-13, 1Jn. 1-9, Rm. 10:8-17, Isaiah 55:7, Jn. 8:11, II Cor. 6:14,17, 18) and one must repent (change directions), Acts 2:38, Mark 1:15, Luke 18:13, and seek God (James 2:17-26, John 3:4-8, Romans 14:17-18, Titus 3:5)
We believe that one must be born of water and the spirit (John 3:1-7)
We believe that the water baptism is an essential part of salvation (Acts 2:38, Romans 6:3-11, Mark 16:15-16, Matt. 28:19)
We Believe the baptism of the Holy Ghost is the birth of the Sprit (John 3:5).
Holiness
We believe after we are saved from sin we are commanded to “go and sin no more” (John 8:11).
We believe that we are commanded to live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world (Titus 2:12). Without holiness no man shall see that Lord (Hebrews 12:14).
We believe that we must present ourselves holy unto God which is our reasonable service (Romans 12: 1). Cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit (ii Cor. 7:11).
We believe that one should not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? Wherefore come out from among them and be ye separated saith the Lord. Touch not the unclean thing and I will receive you, I will be a father unto you and ye shall be my sons and daughters saith the Lord Almighty (II Cor 6:14, 17-18, 7:1).
We oppose the manufacture, sale and use of all intoxicants and substance detrimental to the body, mind or soul of man. (II Cor. 7:1, Ephesians 5:18, Isaiah 52:11, II Tim. 2:21, I Cor. 3:16-17, 6:15, 19:20) (i.e.: alcohol, drugs, tobacco).
We are opposed to filthiness of speech, foolish talking, jesting and speaking evil of others. (Eph. 4:29-31, I Thess. 5:22).
The Commandments
Jesus said if you love me keep my commandments (John 14:15, 21) We believe that we have to keep all the commandments of God (Ps 119:115, 19:143)
The Law
Where there is no vision the people perish, but he that keepeth the law, happy is he (Prov. 29:18).
Sanctuary
We believe that we should reverence the sanctuary (Leviticus 26:2).
We believe that we should worship God (II Chron. 20:18-19).
We believe in singing and praising God (II Chron. 20:21, Psalms 105: 1-60 Ps. 100:1-5).
